If you ever visited my old Website my business principles and philosophy remains the same. I don’t want my business to get too big and I would rather deliver a quality service to a handful of loyal clients than make a quick buck.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS SITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
About Me
I served a traditional apprenticeship in the electrical contracting industry as an Electrician. After that foundation, I worked my way through many aspects of the electrical trade and in a career spanning over 40 years have served in the following roles: Installation Electrician. Service Engineer. Maintenance Electrician. Maintenance Manager. Project Manager. College Lecturer (Electrical Technology).
During my working life I have made a point of only working for reputable companies such as Royal Mail and Securicor etc. I have always been interested in my craft and this interest, coupled with my experience has given me an extremely wide knowledge-base of electrical technology and applications.
Additionally, I have the benefit of a lifetime working in the electrical installation and maintenance fields installing services and finding solutions to problems.
I firmly believe in maintaining CPD and easily complete more than 60 hours a year by visting exhibitions, seminars and training courses whenever possible.
I offer training and consultancy services to the electrical engineering sector and organisations using electrical services. I offer basic electrical training, upskilling or advanced training.
I can deliver training or consultancy within an organisation or be based externally.
I also enjoy a challenge and don’t mind stepping outside of the usual, if I can’t find a solution to a problem, I bet I know someone who can.
My Qualifications
To avoid any internet scams I am not posting a precise record of my qualifications here. Suffice to say that I have the complete set of electro-technical qualifications up to Senior Technician level and beyond.
I would be more than pleased to share further details with regard to qualifications and/references with prospective clients on request. I also hold certificates for every regulations update since the 15th Edition, along with Inspect & Test and PAT etc.

What I Offer
Training:
If you are a College or Training Provider I can provide variable hours training on site or at a clients address.
I can also provide bespoke electrical training for organisations seeking specialist training. Example: A local maintenance company had to call an electrician every time they disconnected a duct fan to clean out commercial kitchen ventilation and then get the electrician back to reconnect when they had finished. I was able to train their own staff to safely disconnect and reconnect fans thus saving that company thousands of pounds per year by proving training and competence.
Alternatively, you may be considering multi-skilling or re-training staff that you need help with. As I work closely with several training providers the courses I offer are all certificated or documentry proof of training is issued.
Consultancy:
As above, I can help with in-house Training/Re-Training and changes in working practice.
Do you have a site-wide Electrical Policy? How do you prove compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations? I can draft an entire policy for you. Do you need a Planned Preventative Maintenance System putting in place? How often do you clear out the Kitchen grease trap, clear gutters or test Escape Lighting? I have done this many times. Do you have a Disaster Recovery Plan? If your insurance company doesn't demand it, your MD would certainly appreciate it.
In short, if you have any Facilities/Organisational requirements I can help.
Oxford Energy Academy. This is a training centre that I am very pleased to be associated with. It was set up by two former colleagues of mine from Oxford City College who I have the greatest respect for in terms of expertise and character. OEA delivers electrical and gas/plumbing training and has just opened a new training centre in Cambridgeshire. I wish them every success for the future.

Oxford City College. Trained as an apprentice here myself and many years later ended up running the Electrical Installation department before I went freelance. Oxford College has been good to me and there are a lot of very talented people working there. After such a long association I feel like an old married couple might - I am very fond of her but would sometimes like to strangle her. One of my colleagues summed it up nicely with "This place is like the Hotel California: You can check out but you can never leave".

Joint Training Ltd – this is a national outfit, they are the link between electrical apprentices and the electrical installation industry. They also offer training and NVQs, and whatever they do is extremely professional. I like the way they work and I get along very well with this organisation.
